A number of new test rigs and benches have been specially developed in Russia for МС-21 aircraft systems’ and components’ ground tests. The recently designed and built test rigs and benches include the Iron Bird (aircraft control systems’ hardware-in-the-loop simulation), the Electronic Bird (Avionics Rig), and the Electric Power Generating System Test Rig.
Strength and fatigue tests of the prototype composite wing, tail, and their components have been successfully completed.
The aircraft metal parts and assemblies have successfully passed aerodynamic, structural, and endurance tests.
PD-14 engine is currently undergoing flight, bench, engineering, and certification tests. PW1400G engine bench and certification tests are near completion.
Certification tests of the MC-21 aircraft and its systems are in full swing.
